About Mashkodens Wilderness Immersion

Mashkodens (Ojibwe for “Little Prairie”) is the base camp in northern Wisconsin where people come to be immersed in the Old Way of life to continue to deepen relationship skills–how to live in a circle, forage food, make crafts and shelters, and more. These people have either completed the yearlong wilderness immersion at Teaching Drum Outdoor School, or have developed core relationship skills and passion elsewhere. This is the continued unfolding of the original vision of Mashkodens: a core group of people living immersed full-time in the Old Way.

The purpose of this blog is to provide a forum for those living at Mashkodens to share glimpses of their experience through writings, sound recordings, and pictures which make their way to the internet via the support crew at Teaching Drum Outdoor School. You are welcome to leave comments or send letters directly.
